The Tarot Garden was conceived and created by Niki de Saint Phalle, a Franco-American artist and one of the most important figures of the 20th century. Inspired by tarot cards and great visionary parks such as Gaudí’s Parc Güell, she worked on this project for over twenty years, transforming it into a true inhabitable artwork made of monumental sculptures, vivid colors, mirrors, and ceramics.
The 22 sculptures: a symbolic journey
The park hosts 22 large sculptures, each dedicated to a Major Arcana tarot card. Figures such as the Empress, the Magician, the High Priestess, or the Sun take shape as gigantic, walk-through structures rich in symbolism. Each sculpture is conceived as a micro-world to explore slowly, guided more by intuition than by rationality.
